可以從三個角度神學性地論說人：
a.人是一切受造者之首
b.人乃是其受造本性被扭曲的存有，亦即人是罪人
c.人也是透過耶穌基督而得以被帶離其受造本性被扭曲的存有，以致於他能再次恢復正確地位。
Bayer強調因為這三個角度乃是同時被考慮，因此也就彼此完全無法區分。
對路德而言，在Disputatio de homine中對哲學人觀的的反駁並非枝微末節之事，相反地，這正是他對神學的根本理解。對於這三面向之內在衝突的學術研究(academic study)構成了神學活動。
路德在Disputatio de homine的論題32中，清楚地反對亞里斯多德傳統的人觀，而是引用羅3:28指出「人乃是藉信而被證立(Human is justified by faith)」。
